Who supplies the DA postcode area?
Electricity distributor, gas network and water wholesaler for DA — the fixed infrastructure companies for this postcode area, and how they differ from the supplier on your bill.
Electricity distributor
The DA postcode area is served by UK Power Networks (South Eastern England), MPAN distributor ID 19. This is the company that owns the wires and substations here and responds to power cuts — call 105, free, from any phone. It is not who you pay for electricity.
Gas network
DA is served by SGN (Southern England (Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Surrey)). If you smell gas, leave the property and call 0800 111 999, the National Gas Emergency Service, free and staffed 24 hours a day, the same number regardless of which network covers your address.
Water wholesaler
Thames Water is the water and wastewater wholesaler for DA. Household customers cannot switch wholesaler; non-household (business) customers can switch retailer under the Open Water market while Thames Water remains the fixed network operator underneath. Leak line: 0800 714 614. Emergency: 0800 316 9800.
Price cap for South Eastern England, 1 October – 31 December 2026
DA falls in Ofgem's South Eastern England price-cap region. The Direct Debit single-rate cap here:
| Fuel | Unit rate | Standing charge |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity | 26.88p/kWh | 52.32p/day |
| Gas | 8.05p/kWh | 29.26p/day |
Great Britain average electricity unit rate for comparison: 26.32p/kWh. On Ofgem's typical consumption values (2,500 kWh), that is roughly £863/year for electricity alone. Full payment-method breakdown on the energy price cap page.
Distributor is not supplier
Everything above is your fixed network infrastructure — it cannot be switched and has no billing relationship with you. Your energy supplier is the separate, competitive company you actually pay, and you can switch it at any time using Ofgem's find my supplier guidance if you've lost track of who that is. On the gas side, registrations are held centrally by the Meter Point Administration Service — your supplier can look this up for you using your MPRN.
- UK Power Networks — the MPAN distributor ID is 19. This is the Distribution Network Operator that owns the wires in DA, not necessarily who you pay for electricity.
